Health & Fitness Disclaimer
HyCo provides training, recovery and nutrition guidance for informational and educational purposes only. Please read this disclaimer carefully. By using HyCo you confirm that you understand and accept it. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Consult a professional first
Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider before beginning, changing or intensifying any exercise or nutrition programme — and especially if you: are pregnant or postpartum; are under 18; have or suspect a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, an injury, an eating disorder, or any chronic or acute medical condition; are recovering from illness or surgery; or take medication that could be affected by exercise or diet. If you are unsure whether exercise is safe for you, do not rely on HyCo — ask your doctor.
2. Assumption of risk
Physical exercise — including running and resistance training — carries inherent risks, including injury, illness, and in rare cases serious harm. You take part voluntarily and accept those risks. You are solely responsible for exercising within your own limits, using correct technique, warming up appropriately, and choosing whether any session, load or pace is suitable for you on the day.
3. Listen to your body — stop and seek help
Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness, faintness, palpitations, severe or unusual pain, or any other warning sign. In an emergency, call 999 (or your local emergency number). Do not wait for, or rely on, the app.
4. Guidance is general and estimates are not guarantees
HyCo personalises guidance from the data you provide, but it cannot see you, assess your form, or know your full medical history. Predicted race times, paces, training loads, recovery scores, calorie and macro targets and body-composition figures are estimates that carry uncertainty and will not be accurate for everyone. They are not promises of any particular result, and results vary from person to person.
5. Nutrition guidance
Any nutrition, hydration, fuelling, carb-loading or body-weight guidance is general information for healthy adults and is not personalised dietary or medical advice. Do not use it to manage a medical condition or an eating disorder. If you have specific dietary needs or a history of disordered eating, consult a registered dietitian or your doctor, and do not follow the app’s targets.
6. Wearable & third-party data
Data synced from wearables and third-party services (such as heart rate, HRV, sleep or VO₂max) can be inaccurate or incomplete, and HyCo’s outputs depend on it. Treat such data and any derived recommendations as approximate, and use your own judgement.
7. No professional relationship
Using HyCo does not create a doctor–patient, coach–athlete, or other professional relationship between you and HyCo or anyone associated with it.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HyCo and Matthew Carter (trading as HyCo) accept no liability for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or its guidance. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. This disclaimer should be read together with the limitation-of-liability section of our Terms of Service.
